Meet Becky Giombi of RitzHolman CPAs
YNPN Milwaukee's June Featured Member

What is your experience in the nonprofit sector?

After college, I spent a year in the Jesuit Volunteer Corps-Northwest volunteering as a garden and fresh foods program coordinator at a food pantry in Tacoma, Washington.  Currently, I work as an accountant at RitzHolman CPAs doing audits of nonprofit organizations in the Milwaukee area.  I'm also a Master Gardener Volunteer with the UW-Extension program in Milwaukee County.

In the Jesuit Volunteer Corps, Becky coordinated the planting of an orchard to provide more fresh fruit to food pantry clients.

What is your favorite nonprofit event or program?

I was privileged to attend the WWBIC (Wisconsin Women's Business Initiative Corp) Annual Luncheon event this past fall and found it to be one of the most inspiring nonprofit events I've been to.  WWBIC clients shared stories of the struggles they overcame to start their businesses or achieve financial independence for themselves and their families.  Businesses that have been supported by WWBIC also showcased their products and services at a fair at the event.

Who do you look up to as a professional mentor or role model?

I consider Andy Holman, one of the partners at my firm, to be a professional role model.  He is a wealth of knowledge on all nonprofit financial matters, and he is driven by his passion for helping nonprofits to be sustainable and successful in doing good work in our community.

How has networking proven beneficial to you?

The nonprofit sector in Milwaukee is so interconnected because of the size of the city, and I think this gives us an opportunity to work together in way that wouldn't be possible in some cities.  I've enjoyed networking with other nonprofit professionals because there's an immediate shared interest and common motivation, and there's always something to learn from each other.

How did you become involved with YNPN Milwaukee?

I knew of YNPN from attending an event a few years ago and wanted to get more involved after being exposed to more nonprofits in my current role at RitzHolman.
